After facing criticism from all factions of the telecom industry for its recommendations on the auction of spectrum, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) may review its recommendations on the subject, say news reports.
Faced with stiff competition, falling profits and a declining user base, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is pulling out all stops to retain its position in the telecom space.
Sistema has said that it will shut down its Indian operations if the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI)’s suggestion to increase the reserve price for spectrum auction by over 10 times is accepted by the government, say news reports.
Bharti Airtel has partnered with Axis Bank for extending banking and payment services on its mobile platform.
The global research firm Gartner reports that global sales of mobile phones shrank by 2 per cent in the first quarter of 2012.
